CataRT Installation

1) Go to http://imtr.ircam.fr/imtr/CataRT, scroll down to “Downloads” and click on “CataRT-1.2.4 for FMT 2.6, 01.04.14”

2) Go to your Finder window and open your Max 7 Folder and place CataRT in “Packages”

3) Open Max 7.  Click on Options at the top of your screen, go to File Preferences.  Click the + button to add a new path.  Choose the CataRT Folder we just dropped into Packages.  Make sure the subfolders “x” is clicked in your file path window.

4) Go to: http://ftm.ircam.fr/index.php/Download and download “FTM & Co for Max 6.1 and Max 7”

5) Make sure you have the Cycling ’74 package in your Max 7 Folder.  If you have just downloaded Max for the first time, it should be there, but if you upgraded from Max 6.1 like I did, you may need to copy and paste it into your Max 7 Folder.

6) Install FTM and drag it to Packages in the Max 7 Folder

7) Go back to your open Max 7 program.  Go to File Preferences and create a path to “FTM.2.6.0.BETA-Max6-7”, again making sure the subfolders “x” is clicked in your file path window.

8) Open “FTM.2.6.0.BETA-Max6-7”, copy and paste files from the FTM folder into your “Cycling ’74” folder:

*) move the content of “init” FTM folder into “Max/Cycling’74/init”

*) move the content of “jsextensions” folder into “Max/Cycling’74/jsextensions”

*) move the content of “object-palettes” folder into “Max/Cycling’74/object-palettes”

NOTE: If you do not see an “object-palettes” folder, then open the “misc.” folder, copy its contents, and place them into “Max/Cycling’74/object-palettes”

*) move the content of “extras” folder into “Max5/patches/extras”

NOTE: For Max 7 users, “Max7/patches/extras” is where you paste the content

9) Open cataRT-1.2.4 in Max 7.

10) You’ll notice instructions in the patch.  We can skip steps 0 and 1.  Click everything under 2A.

11) Import a sound file you like for step 2B.

12) Double click the pink “cataRT.lcd corpus” box.  Turn on the DAC in the window you were just in.

13) HAVE FUN!!!!!
